Retroreflective Solid Glass Microspheres - Aluminum Coated Half-Shells
Coating: Half-shell Aluminum Coating Core: Solid, Barium Titanate Glass Specific Gravity: 4.49 +/- 0.01 Index of Refraction: 1.90 – 1.92 Mean Diameter: 40 - 50 microns Maximum Diameter: 90 - 100 microns Appearance: Grey powder Hardness: 55 – 65 on Gardner Scale
Produced under strict quality controls,
these spheres are made from a barium titanate glass that has a
refractive index of 1.91, a specific gravity of 4.49, moh hardness
higher than steel, a crush point of 30,000 psi and a degree of roundness
in excess of 80%. These solid, barium titanate glass microspheres with a 40 - 50 micron mean diameter have a tight distribution, and a top size of 100 microns. The have been hemispherically coated with a thin aluminum shell. In bulk, they appear to be a grey powder. Under a microscope, each individual microparticle can be seen to be a half coated sphere.
Optional Coatings Available at Extra Charge (Silane is stock, Fluorochemical adds 5-10 business days):
- Fluorochemical - Improved hydrophobicity to aide in bringing the spheres to the surface ($10)
- Silane - Improved dispersion ($10)
